There are two parts to your application to Kenu:

Step #1:
Download the application below, print it and fill it out. Application deadline for free tuition is April 15, 2008*.

*In order to continue the work of the foundation we do ask for a tax deductible donation of $100 per week per attendee. This is a voluntary contribution which helps offset food and lodging expenses.

Step #2:
Mail the application to the address below along with a VHS tape, DVD or CD showing us your work. Below are the requirements for each camp.

Strings Camp:  Students are encouraged to apply for both weeks of strings.

A VHS or DVD containing four minutes of material from two of the following:

A solo piece, preferably a concerto movement or unaccompanied Bach movement
A chamber music performance
An etude demonstrating the extent of your
technique
A three octave major or minor scale and arpeggio
A short paragraph detailing your musical background and performing experience

Acting Camp:  Students are encouraged to apply for both weeks of acting.

A video recording (VHS or DVD) containing at least 2 minutes of one of the following:

a monologue from a play
a dramatic reading of a poem
an excerpt from the recording of a
   play in which you have acted

Dance Camp:  Applicants must have at least five years of classical ballet training as well as one year on pointe. To apply, please submit a picture in first arabesque on pointe as well as a 3 minute video (DVD or VHS) of a solo performance.

Film Camp:  At least three minutes of a movie you’ve made (on DVD or VHS).

Voice Camp:  A CD or cassette tape containing at least two minutes of a solo.

Writing Camp:  Submit a short work of fiction, 3-5 pages in length, complete within its form as a short story (a beginning, middle, and conclusion) focusing on a central character/ protagonist.

Decide point of view. Use dialogue, setting, action, and descriptive prose.

Use Times New Roman font, 12 pt., pages numbered, and double spaced. Use a cover page (title, your name, address, email address, and telephone number) and a brief letter of explanation as to how you came to write this piece. Remember that writing is revising, so relax and enjoy the process of getting it wrong before you get it right. But show us your very best, thoroughly revised work.
